What is the NYU ID Card?

nyu_cardWelcome to New York University (NYU)! Once the formalities of registration are over, all new students are emailed detailed instructions on obtaining their NYU Id card. This is their passport to New York University.

The NYU Id card includes a photo (that can be emailed in before the start of the semester, or clicked on-campus when you go to pick it up), your name, expected graduation year (or expiration date), NYU NetId, N number, and some other instructions and information. It is essentially a swipe keycard, enabling NYU members access to all NYU buildings and acting as proof of your membership to NYU. However, there is much more to this purple pocket-sized plastic square than just that.

Through this blog, we will explore how the NYU Id card gives you more than just an identity. This card gives you access to a host of other activities, fun and functional. It also has more uses than you might think, letting you into non-NYU buildings as well. Keep reading our posts to uncover all these, and more.

PS: While we focus on the student benefits, these cards are issued to NYU faculty and staff as well. You reap benefits as a part of NYU, whatever your role.
